PROCESS

Collections are designed over a long period, with each aspect of the piece of jewellery given individual consideration.

I tend to be inspired by my surroundings, whether that's visiting an old village looking at details of well-worn doors or walking along a beach, picking up fragments of shell. People's stories are also a source of fascination and I enjoy encompassing personal elements into bespoke jewellery.

Drawing is an important step in the process. Firstly it encourages me to examine my source inspiration, a way of looking closely and observing details that can easily be overlooked upon first glance. Secondly, I sketch various designs, exploring possibilities before trying it out in copper or wax or card.

This part of the process can take quite a while until I'm happy with the form, pattern and texture.

Finally, the piece will be made in precious metal to the size required. However, even at this stage details may change as I respond to how the piece is taking shape.
